A partnership that empowers pupils
We began our partnership with King Richard School in 2009, with a remit to meet the school's values and standards for PE and sport while improving the participation in PE and sport across the school.
Originally, we provided two part-time staff to deliver our coaching, who over time began to introduce street dance classes. Since then our commitment to the school has increased to five full-time staff, including fully qualified PE teachers and senior sports coaches. Today and we have become a highly effective and efficient PE Department for the school.
Since 2009 pupil participation rates in PE have risen and been maintained at nearly 100%, while the overall quality and quantity of PE and sport provision has also improved.
Recent highlights have included:
- The Year 7 team for the school played their first competitive rugby matches in five years – winning both
- All years and both boys and girls teams have participated in competitive football, netball, cricket, and basketball matches
- Sports Leaders courses have been successfully instigated
- The inaugural ‘Paulsgrove Cup’ was held in May 2015, which involved all the local cluster primary schools in a highly successful competitive athletics event.
